Obituary of Joyce E. (Moshier) Laventure

LITTLE FALLS – Joyce E. (Moshier) Laventure, 79, a longtime resident of 609 Albany Street, Little Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, March 9, 2020, at the Valley Health Services, in Herkimer, NY. She was born September 22, 1940, in Little Falls, the daughter of the late Fred and Florence (Avery) Moshier and was educated in Little Falls schools. She had worked at various sewing machine factories throughout our area. A woman devoted to her family, Joyce was a loving and caring mother, sister and grandmother. In her leisure time she enjoyed working with HALO and was always ready to lend a helping hand to one and all of her many friends. Joyce also had a special place in her heart for all kinds of animals. In fact, her beloved cherished pet dog, Gizmo, will now live out her special life in her new home with a great girl, Maddie and her family. Joyce was such a nice lady and she always could be found on her front porch. She would knit sweaters and blankets for so many lucky friends and family in Little Falls. Everyone knew her and she will be greatly missed. Survivors include her loving family, a daughter, Michele “Missy” Laventure, of Little Falls; her grandchildren, Shannon Laventure, of Little Falls and Dustin Seamon, of Herkimer; two sisters, Carol Carter and Barbara Murray, both of Little Falls; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter, Lynette F. Delaney; her granddaughter, Megan Delaney; and her two sisters, Joan Leon and Phyllis Moshier. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, in Little Falls and the funeral service prayers will begin at 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Due to the current limitations on gatherings, the funeral home and family will make every effort to accommodate all who wish to attend. Those wishing to remember Joyce in a special way are asked to consider a donation to HALO, 615 Albany Street, Little Falls, New York 13365, an organization dear to her, or to Lilah’s Foster House, P.O. Box 961, Little Falls, New York 13365. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff of Valley Health Services for their care. Joyce’s request was honored with arrangements entrusted to Funeral Directors, Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia, of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, in Little Falls (315) 823-2424.
