Obituary of Olga B. Palisi

LITTLE FALLS - Mrs. Olga B. "Ollie" Palisi, a resident of 550 East John Street (Rockton Plaza) Little Falls, NY, passed away in the presence of her loved ones on Wednesday June 24, 2015 at Faxton - St. Luke's Healthcare, Town of New Hartford, NY. Olga was 96. She held employment for twenty five years with the Little Falls Hospital as a Registered Nurse, retiring in 1980 as Supervisor of the Maternity Department. Her marriage to Walter G. "Chet" Palisi took place on September 30, 1942 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Shnurer officiating. The couple shared in 45 loving years of marriage until the passing of Mr. Palisi on August 27, 1987. She was the loving matriarch to the family and is survived by her daughter and son - in - law, Joan M. Pellerito and husband Anthony of Utica, grandchildren, Michael Pellerito and wife Brenda and Daniel Pellerito and wife Holly, and her very special great - grandchildren, Zachary, Tyler, Alexander, Sophia, Henry and Abigail. Also surviving are cousins, Catherine Merena and Olga Urich of Little Falls and nieces, Sandra Mihevc and Janice Kerzinski. She was predeceased by her father in 1967, her mother in 1984 and her husband in 1987. She was a member of Holy Family Parish in Little Falls. Born June 21, 1919 in Little Falls, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Paska (Belniw) Basey. Olga was a woman of her time with very strong work ethics, having graduated from Little Falls High School, Class of 1937. She went on to attend Excelsior School of Business, graduate Class of 1939, as well as Crouse - Irving Memorial School of Nursing, graduate Class of 1943. Her accomplishments were all surrounded by her marriage to her husband and his enlistment into the military, as well as the raising of her loving family. She was a devoted member and past secretary of the former St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Little Falls, as well as secretary and member of St. Ann's Sisterhood of the church and church treasurer beginning in 1963. She was a member of the Ukrainian National Home and National Association. She was a past member of the Lady Elk's of Little Falls, Lodge #42. She was a member of the Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital Alumni Association. She was past - secretary of the Herkimer County Home Bureau and member of Green Mills home bureau chapter. She was formerly a member of the A.A.R.P. Chapter #4367 of Little Falls and past chapter chairwoman. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at 11:00 AM at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street in Little Falls with clergy representation from the Holy Family Parish officiating. Interment will follow at the Basey-Palisi family plot, St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Calling hours are on SATURDAY morning prior to the funeral service from 9:30 until 11:00 AM.
