Obituary of Vincent L. Risi

HERKIMER – Mr. Vincent L. “Cheemo” Risi, age 89, of Herkimer, passed away on November 2, 2015 at Valley Health Services surrounded with family love. He was born in Herkimer, NY on September 27, 1926, the son of the late Americo and Margaret (Baltico) Risi and he attended Herkimer schools. He served our country during World War II with the United States Army. On June 30, 1962 Vincent and the former Janet A. Lawrence were united in marriage. Together they shared in over 50 years of marriage. He was a parishioner of the Church of Sts. Anthony and Joseph and a member of the Tony R. George Post. For many years Mr. Risi owned and operated Vinnie’s Barber Shop in Herkimer. He at one time had worked with the Library Bureau. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet, two children, Vincent A. Risi of Herkimer and Christina Risi and her partner Kyle L. Sibley of East Syracuse; his grandchildren, Ryan, Brett, and Janell Risi and Bradley Bernier, two great – grandchildren, Braeden Ward and Lucas Bernier, his brother, Richard Risi and wife Loretta of Herkimer, his sisters, Angela Vella of Albany and Mary Ann Millar and her husband Arnold of Ilion, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister Victoria Ameduri and her husband Fiore and a brother – in – law, Anthony Vella. The funeral will be held Saturday, November 7, 2015, at 9:00 AM in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, South Main Street, Herkimer, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Quy Vo. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with full military honors. There will be no public calling hours. His family has planned all funeral arrangements with The Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street in Herkimer, NY.
