Obituary of Marion M. Dingman

Mrs. Marion M. Dingman, age 76, a lifelong Mohawk resident, passed away on Tuesday evening, January 5, 2016, at the Bassett Healthcare Center in Cooperstown. Born on October 22, 1939, Marion was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Betty (Traver) Mason. She was raised and educated in Mohawk and attended local schools. On May 23, 1959, she was united in marriage to the late Wade R. Dingman, Sr., whom she shared over 50 years with until his passing on March 28, 2010. Marion was a hardworking woman, and besides her duties to her family at home, she was employed by various companies, including Nichols and Carl’s Drugs, both in Herkimer. Marion will be remembered by her three daughters, Mary Lou Dingman and Trevor Humphreys of Mohawk, Brenda Price and Darrell, of Ilion, and RoseMarie Moore and her husband, Bob, of Mohawk; two sons, Wade Dingman, Jr., and his wife, Sheila, and Randy Dingman, all of Mohawk; a special granddaughter, Sonya Farrington, whom Marion raised as one of her own; twenty-one grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Donald Ingerham and Florence Borman; her brothers and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Nancy Mason and Woodrow Mason, Jr.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special family friend, Dorothy Roskowski. Besides her parents and husband, Marion was predeceased by her daughter, Peggy Dingman; her son, Jeffrey Dingman; one great-grandson, Logan Sullivan; a sister, June Monohan; and a brother, Wilson Mason. Visitation will be held from 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM on Monday, January 11, 2016, from the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s larger location at 4309 Acme Road (Old Main St., between Frankfort and Ilion). Marion’s Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, January 11, 2016, at 5:30 PM from the chapel of the funeral home, immediately upon the conclusion of visitation, with Pastor Ron Fralick of the First Baptist Church, Middlefield, officiating. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Mohawk Cemetery, where Marion will be laid to rest beside her husband, Wade. A special thank you is extended to the staff of Little Falls Hospital and Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown for the care provided to Marion during her brief illness.
