Obituary of Francis "Frank" Manno
ILION: Francis R. (Frank) Manno, 71, a longtime Ilion resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 2, 2016 with the love and support of his family at his side.
Born on December 16, 1944 in Ilion, Frank was the son of the late Salvatore and Sara (Notarianni) Manno. Raised and educated locally, he was a graduate of Frankfort High School, continuing his education by attending La Salle University and graduating with an Associate Degree of Applied Science in drafting. On April 3, 1965 he was united in marriage to the former Sally R. Rousseau at Annunciation Church, Ilion, sharing a 51-year union of love and understanding.
Frank worked as a technical service engineer for Daimler Buses North America in Oriskany. Frank was a blessing to his family, a patriarch who provided for the well-being of his loved ones and embraced strong family values. In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, target practice, fishing and was an avid NY Giant and Boston Celtics fan. Frank also loved his trips to the casino and Atlantic City.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sally; his son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Barbara Manno of Ilion; a daughter and son-in-law, Shawna and James Feenin of Mohawk; his cherished grandchildren, Scott Bicknell, and Brandon and Eric Wells; a great granddaughter, Lilliana Rae Bicknell; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Sal and Nora Manno, Jr. of Athens, TN and Peter and Eileen Manno of Frankfort and his sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Les Heppell of Minnesota. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends, Ron Leonis and Dale VanHatten.
He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Manno.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion, NY (315)894-8000.
Frank’s Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, April 7, 2016 beginning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Deacon Peter Manno, officiating. Procession will then follow to Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion where he will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Frank’s memory to the immediate family; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
