Obituary of Raymond J. Lefebvre

HERKIMER-Raymond J. Lefebvre, 88, formerly of 345 Gray Street, Herkimer, NY, died after a brief illness on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Schuyler Ridge Residential Healthcare facility in Clifton Park, NY, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Herkimer on August 6,1928, the son of Homer J. and Alma Marie Lefebvre, formerly of Orleans, Ontario, Canada. Raymond grew up in Herkimer, attended Herkimer High School and was a member of the Mohawk Fife, Drum and Bugle Corps. In 1945, at the age of 17, he joined the NY National Guard, Co. C, 6th Reg’t where he advanced to the rank of Corporal. He returned to school while in his mid-30s, graduating from Mohawk Valley Community College in 1964. He was employed at the Remington Arms Company, Ilion, NY, for over 43 years, until retiring in 1990 from his position as Sr. Metallurgy Laboratory Technician and Metallographer. Ray was a gentle man with a great sense of humor and a passion for his family. He loved animals, music, reading and learning, especially world history and all things related to World War II. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Foley); his sons, Glenn and wife Kathy of Cohoes, David and wife Lora of Brunswick, Kim and wife Linda of Niskayuna; his cherished grandchildren, Michelle Lefebvre (Pratt) of Virginia Beach, VA, Andrew Lefebvre of Ballston Lake, NY, Stephen Lefebvre of Boston, MA, and Alyssa Lefebvre of Troy, NY, and seven great grandchildren, Emily, Elizabeth and Sarah Pratt and Angelo, Tea, Milana, and Anamaria Lefebvre. Everyone is welcome to join the family at a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis DeSales Church, 219 N Bellinger St, Herkimer, NY 13350 on Friday, November 4 at 12:00 PM. Interment will be immediately following the church service at Calvary Cemetery, West German St, Herkimer. The family request that, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Raymond J. Lefebvre may be made to the Schuyler Ridge Residential Healthcare Activities Fund, 1 Abele Drive, Clifton Park, NY 12065 or St. Francis DeSales Church, 219 N Bellinger St., Herkimer NY 13350.
