Obituary of David B. Green

UTICA – Mr. David B. Green, age 58, beloved husband of Christine (Patterson) Green, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, February 26, 2017 at Upstate University Hospital, Community Campus, in Syracuse. Born in Syracuse on May 14, 1958, David was the son of Richard E. Green and the late Dorothy (Linduski) Green. He was raised and educated in North Syracuse and upon his graduation he enlisted with the United States Army, serving under the North American Aerospace Defense Command. During his years of service, he attended music school in Quantico, Virginia, and was a proud member of the Norad Band. David was a hardworking man who spent his career with the United States Postal Service. He began as a mail carrier and eventually worked in the processing center, up until his retirement in 2007. On May 20, 2009, David was wed to the former Christine Patterson, and together the couple shared in almost eight years of marriage. Christine meant the world to David; he was her joy and she was his everything. Although health issues played a major role in the latter part of David’s life, his younger years were filled with fun and adventure. He was an avid fisherman, skilled dart player and a die-hard Yankees fan. He had a passion for music and at one time was a drummer for the Syracuse Scottish Pipe Band. Family was always of the utmost importance, and nothing brought him more happiness than being with his wife, children and grandchildren. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Christine; his sons, Dr. Christopher Green, Ph.D. and his partner, Raul Burgos, of Syracuse and Richard Green and his wife, Stacy, of Clay; his grandchildren, Delaney, Luca and Clayton; his father, Richard Earl Green of Virginia; his mother-in-law, Sandra Patterson of Herkimer; his step-sons, Scott Weir and his fiancée, Alecia Mosher, of Holland Patent, Robert Weir and his wife, Valerie, of Morrisville and Jarrod Weir of Fonda; and his step-grandchildren, Melissa, Christopher, Thomas, Corbyn, Aidyn, Cartar and Robert. Survivors also include his sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and John Wilcox of Virginia; his in-laws, Michele Patterson and Yvan Leveille of Oppenheim and Angela and Randy Schaffer of West Winfield; his nieces and nephews, including Kristen and Matthew Feldman and Beth and Ruben Mongay; one great-nephew, Diego Hudson Wilcox-Mongay; his special friends, Dave and Fern Wool and Jim and Mary McVicker; and his canine companion, Sammy. David was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy Green, his father-in-law, Albert Patterson, and a special friend, Lois Copperwheat. A special thank you is extended to the staff of Upstate University Hospital, Community Campus, especially to the doctors and nurses in the ER and on 4 North. Friends and relatives are invited to attend David’s calling hours on Thursday evening, March 2, 2017, from 4:00PM – 7:00PM at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000. Memorial contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Home of CNY, 4290 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. David’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Friday morning, March 3, 2017, at 10:00AM at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home and at 11:00AM at the Lighthouse Baptist Church, 701 Kossuth Ave in Utica, where David’s funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Paul Bannister.
