Obituary of John "Jack" H. Laraway

ST. JOHNSVILLE – Mr. John H. “Jack” Laraway, 88, of Rockefeller Drive, passed away on Tuesday July 9, 2019, in Herkimer, New York. His children were always at his side to comfort and care for him.

Jack was born on July 19,1930, in Schenectady, New York, a son of the late Edward and Effie (Tysick) Laraway. He graduated from St. Johnsville High School. He worked for many years in the shipping department with Beech-Nut in Canajoharie. He then went to work for NBT Bank as a courier out of Canajoharie.

Jack and Gloria “Georgie” (Corso) were united in marriage on January 29,1949. They loved to travel together through the states and parts of Europe. They loved driving through the countryside and exploring the area for restaurants and places to shop along the way. They and their children camped for many years, the ocean being a favorite destination. Jack had a beautiful home and loved his wife and children dearly. Georgie passed away on May 1, 2012.

He leaves behind a son, Dennis Laraway, of St. Johnsville; a daughter, Dawn Kane, of St. Johnsville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

An interment service for Jack and Gloria Laraway will be held at the convenience of their children at the family plot in St. Johnsville Cemetery. Kindly consider donations in his honor to the Alzheimer’s Association or to HALO.
