Obituary of Thomas M. Reilly

HERKIMER – Mr. Thomas M. “Tom” Reilly, age 82, a longtime resident of North Bellinger Street in Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, July 27, 2019, at the Foltsbrook Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Herkimer.

Born on May 11, 1937 in Ogdensburg, NY, Thomas was the son of the late Warren T. and Alice V. (Hogan) Reilly. He received the majority of his education in Utica and was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales Catholic School.

On June 24, 1957, Tom enlisted with the United States Army and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge on October 10, 1959. He remained a steadfast and ardent veteran throughout the remainder of his life.

In 1992, Tom retired from the United States Post Office in Utica, where he had spent his career as a postal worker. He was a kind, considerate and gentle man who was passionate about books and movies, and he will be missed by those he leaves behind.

He is survived by his son, Christopher Michael Reilly, and his grandchildren, Jacob Michael Reilly and Taylor Grace Reilly, all of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; two sisters, Marilyn Rahn of Wimauma, FL and Kathleen (Robert) Schultz of New Windsor, NY; his brother, Stephen (Minnie) Reilly of Utica, NY; along with many friends in the Mohawk Valley. The family would like to extend a special thanks to his landlord and friend, Donna Salamone, of Frankfort, NY.

A Celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Saturday, August 31st, 2019 at 3:00PM at 201 East Main Street, Frankfort, NY 13340. All are invited to attend.
