Obituary of Nelson Darrach, Jr.

FORT PLAIN - Mr. Nelson Darrach, Jr., age 81, of New Turnpike Road, passed away suddenly, on Tuesday morning, October 29, 2019, in Amsterdam, New York. He loved his family dearly and was always at their side.

He was born in Fort Plain, New York, on June 9, 1938, a son of the late Nelson Darrach, Sr. and Leona (Smith) and received his education in Fort Plain and Sharon Springs schools. He was married to Darlene (Kraft) who preceded him in death. He then married Sharon A. (Carpenter). Nelson was a self-employed owner and operator of his dairy farm, Fort Plain, New York. He also sold cars in Ephratah.

His loving family survives including his wife, Sharon; his children: Melissa Miner and her husband, Justin, of St. Johnsville, Nelson Darrach, III, of St. Johnsville, Jeffrey Darrach, of St. Johnsville, Steven Darrach and his wife, Julei, of Maryland and Timothy Darrach, of Little Falls; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Bertha Baker, of New Jersey.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2019. The time is private and convenient to his family with an intimate graveside service in Fort Plain Cemetery. There are no public calling hours.
