DeAngelo, age 55, of East River Street, Ilion, New York, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, December 29, 2019, at MVHS, Faxton-St. Luke’s Campus, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on February 6, 1964, in Little Falls, New York, the son of Diane S. (Sainsbury) Poppke, of Ilion and the late Louis J. DeAngelo. Joe attended Frankfort-Schuyler School and graduated with the ‘Class of 1982’. On September 24, 1988, he was joined in matrimony to Christine A. Miklich, at St. Paul’s Universalist Church, in Little Falls and the couple shared over 31 years of marriage together. He was currently employed with shipping and receiving in the warehouse with the Northern Safety. He was a member of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, in Ilion. Joe loved fishing and was an accomplished runner. He ran cross country with great passion and even ran the Boilermaker several times. He was a huge fan of the Miami Dolphins, Syracuse Orange Basketball and the New York Yankees. Joe had great times playing poker and watching horse races as well. He will be dearly missed by his beloved family, his wife, Chrissy, at home; his daughter, Marissa DeAngelo, of Albany, New York; his mom, Diane and his step-father, Rick Poppke, of Ilion; his siblings, Gina King and her husband, Dave, of Henrietta, New York and Steve DeAngelo, of Herkimer, New York; his aunts, Kathryn Kane, of Mohawk, Karen Guidi and her husband, Butch, of Herkimer and Marianne Gillmore, of Clinton, New York; his step-mother- in-law, Carol Miklich, of Oriskany, New York; his brother-in-law, Stephen Miklich, of Scotia, New York; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe was predeceased by his father, Louis J. DeAngelo, on November 23, 2014; his mother-in-law, Linda A. Harper, on October 30, 2012; and his father-in-law Robert J. Miklich, on September 3, 2009. Funeral services will be held on Thursday evening, January 2nd, 2020, at 7:00 PM, directly at the Chapel of the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, in Ilion, New York (Town of Frankfort), where Bishop Daniel Herzog will lead us in prayer. As a tribute to Joe, the family will be present at the funeral home on Thursday, prior to the service from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM to receive relatives and friends during these calling hours. His burial will take place at a time convenient to the family later in the spring of 2020 within the family plot at Mohawk Cemetery Annex, Vickerman Hill, Mohawk, where he will be laid to rest.
