ILION – Mark M. “ Honker” Mattison, age 69, a lifelong Ilion resident, passed away on Sunday evening, January 5, 2020 in the privacy and comfort of his home. Born on October 10, 1950, Mark was the son of the late Richard and Mary (Sudakow) Mattison. He was raised in Ilion and received his education there. For many years, Mark was employed as a nighttime custodian at Ilion High School; he thoroughly enjoyed his job and worked there until his retirement. Honker can best be remembered as a guy who enjoyed breaking chops, playing his harmonica and having an all around good time. He is survived by his brothers, Craig Mattison and Gary Mattison; his niece, Sandra Ham and her husband, Jasper, of Mohawk; along with several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Richard Mattison; and his sister-in-law, Virginia Mattison. Honker’s Celebration of Life will take place at a date and time to be announced.
