Obituary of Steven J. Frederick

FRANKFORT – Mr. Steven J. Frederick, age 71, a lifelong Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, January 23, 2020, at the Abraham House in Utica. At the time of his passing, Steve was surrounded by the love and support of his devoted family at his bedside. Born on April 13, 1948, Steven was the son of the late Stephen and Mary (Sharrino) Frederick. He was raised and educated locally graduating with the Frankfort-Schuyler Class of 1966. After completion of his schooling, Steve began his career in the automotive industry, which spanned over forty years. He worked his way up the ladder and eventually became the General Manager of Steet-Ponte Chevrolet in Herkimer, where he worked for over twenty years until his retirement. On October 8, 1977, Steve was wed to the former Jeri A. Accattato at St. Mary’s Church in Frankfort, and together they shared in a marriage spanning over forty-two years. They built a life based on the mutual well-being of their three beloved children and filled it with love, laughter and happiness. Steve embodied the word ‘Dad.’ He was a loving father and husband and a cherished Papa. If given the chance to go with Papa or any other person in the world, all three of his grandchildren would choose their Papa. He was their favorite. Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Jeri; his daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Dave D’Agostino of Frankfort; his sons and daughter-in-law, Steve and Sobia Frederick of Marcy and DJ Frederick of Frankfort; his three grandchildren, whom he absolutely adored, David D’Agostino, Joseph D’Agostino and Zahra Frederick; his sister, Kathy Frederick and Craig Jones of Ilion; his brother Ron Frederick of Winter Haven, FL and Bonnie Frederick of Little Falls; his mother-in-law, Catherine Accattato; and his in-laws, Jim and Patty Accattato and Judy Zipko, all of Frankfort. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and special friends, Tony Lavallo and Madeline Lombardo, who brought him joy and laughter during this trying time. Besides his parents, Steve was predeceased by his brother-in-law, George Zipko, and his father-in-law, Dominick Accattato. A special thank you is extended to the caregivers of the Abraham House, as well as to the staff of Hospice & Palliative Care, for making these last few weeks of Steve’s journey as comfortable for him and his family as possible. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Steve’s funeral service which will commence on Saturday morning, January 25, 2020 at 10:30AM at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Paul Catena, Pastor. The Frederick family will receive visitors at the conclusion of mass. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the Abraham House, 1203 Kemble St. Utica, NY 13501. Envelopes will be available at the church.
