Obituary of Walter D. Wieczenski, Jr.

LITTLE FALLS - Mr. Walter D. Wieczenski, Jr., 72, a lifelong Little Falls resident, went home to be with the Lord on Monday morning, February 24, 2020, at MVHS Faxton-St. Luke’s campus, Town of New Hartford, New York. At the time of his passing, he had the love and support of his family by his side. He was born on June 6, 1947, in Little Falls, New York, son of the late Walter, Sr. and Wanda (Wojcicki) Wieczenski and was educated in local schools. He went on to attend Herkimer County Community College where he obtained his Associate degree in business. In his later years, Walter was awarded membership to Phi Theta Kappa, the world’s largest and most prestigious honor society for two-year college students. On January 6, 1968, Walt was united in marriage with Carol A. Burkdorf, in Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Church, a union of love and devotion for 52 years. Walt was last employed as head of maintenance with Little Falls Color Print for many years. Walt spent his most enjoyable times with his wife, Carol, camping, going to Maine, Rhode Island and just going on vacation whenever possible. He really loved to go hiking and had a soft spot in his heart for pets. Survivors include his beloved family: his wife, Carol; two sons, Craig Wieczenski, of Fonda, New York, and Kevin Wieczenski and his wife, Courtney, of Johnstown, New York; a sister and brother-in-law, Debra Spytko and husband, Ronald, of Little Falls; five cherished grandchildren, Rachel and Lauren and Adam, Evan, Matthew and Emma; his adored nieces, Amanda Saunders and Amy Spytko; his great-nephews, Brady and Brett Saunders; many cousins; and in-laws, Peter Burkdorf and his wife, Erica and Sarah Burkdorf. He was predeceased by his infant son, Robert; his parents, Walt & Wanda; and his father-in-law, Earl Burkdorf. The wake will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 12 Noon to 2:00 p.m., at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls. Relatives and friends are also invited to Mr. Wieczenski's funeral, commencing at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 14, from the chapel of the funeral home, where a prayer service will take place, with Father Marian Pociecha, officiating. He will be laid to rest in the spring, in Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Kindly consider memorial offerings to the Herkimer County Humane Society, 514 State Route 5s, Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes are available at the funeral parlor. The family extends its sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of The Grand, in Ilion and Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare for their sensitivity and compassion and tending to the needs of Walter, his wife and his family. A special thank you as well to Dr. Charles J. Eldredge and Dr. Ahmad Mian and all Dialysis and Kidney specialists.
