Obituary of William Burton

HERKIMER – William R. “Bill” Burton, age 68, a lifelong Mohawk Valley resident, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2020 at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness. Born on March 9, 1951, William was the son of the late Raymond Burton and Joyce (Bouck) Fedele. He was raised and educated locally graduating from Ilion High School with the Class of 1969. Bill was blessed to share in a relationship with the late Jay Phillips, who passed away on October 7, 2015. Over the years, Bill was employed as a chef for various locales in the state of Florida as well as here in the valley, lastly with Chet’s Diner in Herkimer. In his spare time he enjoyed trying his luck at the casino and especially in the Bingo hall! He is survived by his sisters and brother-in-law, Sallie Burton of West Winfield and Kathy and Emerson Brown of Chadwicks; his brothers and sister-in-law, Dale Burton of Lowman, NY and Tracy and Florence Burton of Ilion; his sisters-in-law, Cathy Burton of Lowman and Maria Graham of Oneonta; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and extended family. Besides his parents, grandparents and companion, Jay, he was predeceased by his sisters, Wendy Burton and Debra Ann Burton; his brothers, Charles Raymond Burton and James Burton; and his brother-in-law, Charles Heaton, IV. Services for Bill will be held privately at the convenience of his family. His final wishes have been entrusted to Harry and Kevin Enea and Martin L.
