Obituary of Richard R. "Doc" Doxstader

Palm Harbor, FL – Richard R. “Doc” Doxstader, age 84, passed away on March 6, 2020, after a brief bout with cancer. Richard was born July 1, 1935, in Herkimer, NY, the son of Harry and Edith (Lynch) Doxstader. He resided most of his life in the Dolgeville area until a move brought the family to Middleville. He graduated from West Canada Valley High School, in 1953. He attended Mohawk Valley Community College and received a degree in electrical engineering. As an employee of Univac he worked his way up to General Manager of System Test. He worked there for 39 years and was transferred twice, the first transfer to Bristol, TN and the second one to Toledo, OH. His love of wood working became a hobby up to the end of his life. In 1954, Richard married Barbara Jackson and they had four children, eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He leaves behind his wife; two daughters, Deborah (Arthur) Dunn and Kelley Dodge; one son, Gregory (Kim) Doxstader; three sisters, Susan Ferguson, Sandra Fredrick and Janet (Ken) Balderston; brother in law, Richard (Wendy) Jackson; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant son, Scott Francis Doxstader. His sister Elizabeth Long passed away on April 30, 2020. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020, at 12:00 noon, at Calvary Cemetery, in Herkimer, NY, with Father Mark Cunningham, officiating.
