Obituary of Barbara Jane Knoblauch

HERKIMER – Barbara Jane (Relyea) Knoblauch, age 84, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Wednesday morning, April 1, 2020 at the MVHS St. Elizabeth Campus. Born in Sprakers, NY on April 7, 1935, Barbara was the daughter of the late Arthur and Rose (O’Connor) Relyea. She was raised locally and educated in Catholic schools. On June 19, 1965, she was united in marriage to the late William A. Knoblauch in the town of Minden, and together they shared in a loving and devoted union of over fifty years until Bill’s passing on September 17, 2005. For many years, Barbara was employed as a shoe inspector with Daniel Green in Dolgeville until her retirement. Her favorite pastimes were watching Days of Our Lives, playing Bingo and doing crossword puzzles. She was also an avid NY Yankees fan and never missed a televised game. You could really hear her yelling, especially when there was a homerun! Barb is survived by her five daughters, Denise and her husband, Royce Cool of Stratford, Darlene and her husband, Carl Case of Mohawk, Vivian and her husband, Paul Greenfield of Ilion/Herkimer, Deanna and her husband, Paul Rose of Ilion, and Lisa and her husband, Jason Rotondi, with whom Barb resided; her three sons, Glenn Eckler of Utica, Don Eckler and his wife, Lora of Ilion and Robert Knoblauch of Mohawk; and her brother, James Clark and wife, June of Dolgeville. She also leaves behind many grandchildren, Matthew Knoblauch and wife, Kayla, Paul Greenfield, Jr., Samuel Greenfield, Charles Case, Luke Rose, Drew Rose, Nicholas Rotondi, Adam Rotondi, Don Eckler, Jr., Karlee Eckler, Gage Knoblauch and Carson Knoblauch; her two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Leland; along with several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Barbara was predeceased by her brother, David Clark who passed away on May 6, 2012; her sister, Leona Smith who passed away on October 27, 2018; and her sister, Jessi Mae Ciani who passed away on March 31, 2019. Barb’s family would like to thank the staff of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center for the care and compassion shown to her and her family throughout this difficult time. A graveside service will take place at the convenience of the family later this spring at Rural Park Cemetery, where Barbara’s earthly remains will be laid to rest. Final arrangements have been entrusted to Harry and Kevin Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia, Funeral Directors of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer, NY (315) 866-1011.
