Obituary of Mary O. Feeney

LITTLE FALLS – Mrs. Mary O. Feeney, 85, passed away in the comfort of her home, on Friday morning, May 22, 2020. She was born on July 10, 1934, in Niagara Falls, New York, the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Woodside) O’Shea. She was a graduate of Niagara High School and then Niagara University with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She went on to attain a Master’s degree in Management from Binghamton University. She was twice named in the Who’s Who in the East for her accomplishments and contributions in the field of Nursing. After completing her Nursing degree she married Gerald E. Feeney, moving to Little Falls in the summer of 1959. Her passion for Nursing and desire to care for others led to her career as a Public Health Nurse with the Herkimer County Public Health Nursing Services, Herkimer, New York. She greatly enjoyed working in that capacity until her retirement in 1990. Mary was a member of the Holy Family Parish, of Little Falls, where she practiced her strong Catholic Faith and she was very proud of her longtime membership with Gold Star Wives of America. She enjoyed travelling and playing Yahtzee with her friends. But her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as a grandma and great grandma. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her smile. She is survived by her beloved family, children, Patricia Feeney, of Mohawk, Elizabeth Tolman, of Utica, Susan Moller and her husband, Tony, of Alexandria, Virginia and Kathleen Feeney, of Leonardtown, Maryland; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Joan Spaulding, of Ontario, New York; and a very special lifelong friend, Frances Jasewicz. She was predeceased by her parents; and her husband, Gerald. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
