HERKIMER - Kenneth Cole went to be with the Lord on August 22nd at 9:53PM. He was preceded by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Cole, on January 19, 2019. Ken was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. The youngest son is Thomas Edward who is married to Nikki. They have 2 children, Daughter, Madison and Son, Conor. Anyone who knew Kenneth (Whitey) Cole would know him and a fun-loving man who always had a smile on his face. If there was any chance, he didn’t like someone, there was a very good reason why he didn’t. He was a great judge of character and he chose his friends wisely. He had just a few but if you were a friend of Ken, you were a friend indeed. Ken and Betty raised their 3 boys, Mike, Mark and Tom. We all offered our bit of trouble for our parents, and when a spanking was deserved, a spanking was given, but you know after the spanking, you knew you were still loved. He was always a man who was willing to teach his sons how to do things around the house. The memories of putting on a roof, paneling, painting, plumbing and a host of other lessons that were taught. We were blessed to have a dad who was willing to take the time to teach us some of the important things of life. Growing up had its times of fishing it seems like we always went to Jackson’s Pond or Whaley’s Pond for a day of fishing and fun. I don’t remember catching many fish but we always did our best. Then there were a few trips going Salmon fishing in Pulaski as well that he loved to go to. He was also a bowler for a time. As we got older, there was deer hunting. Dad would always go out with us but I think he did it more for us because he would always sit in the same spot and never got a deer, but he went out as long as he could until his knees started giving him trouble. Then everything changed. He was introduced to golf and once he was bitten by the golf bug it was all over. He loved golf, he talked about it all the time and he played whenever he could. He had some golf buddies that would play anywhere, anytime…yes even if it was snowing. Then he started really slowing down. His knees just wouldn’t allow him to golf anymore. It was like he lost his best friend. He still always talked about golf but he just couldn’t physically do it. After many years of struggling with the pain, he finally decided to get one of his knees taken care of. Once he did, he got something called Anesthesia induced Dementia. That changed everything. Ken would spend the rest of his days in a nursing home because he could no longer take care of mom or himself. The devil may have taken his mind but he never took his smile. Dad was always smiling and he had that little chuckle that made you warm inside. His eyes were the bluest, blue that you would have ever seen and until the day he took his last breath, he was loved by the entire staff at Foltsbrook. Today, Kenneth (Whitey) and his wife Elizabeth (Betty) are walking down the streets of gold in Heaven while being loved and cared for by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. No sore knees, a clear mind and yes, those beautiful blue eyes that all the women loved. Dad, you are so loved and we are glad you are finally home, at rest with mom. Enjoy eternity and answer this for us, “Is there golf in Heaven?” We love you and miss you. May God Bless you and keep you in his loving arms. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, NY, Funeral Directors, Harry J. Enea, Jr., & Kevin E. Enea and Martin L.
