Obituary of Tendewsz Alexanderowicz

MOHAWK – Mr. Tendewsz “Ted” Alexanderowicz, age 96, of Mohawk, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, August 23, 2020, in the privacy and comfort of his home. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by the love and support of his devoted family always at his side. Born on September 15, 1923, Ted was the son of the late Joseph and Victoria (Cioch) Alexanderowicz. He attended Herkimer schools. On May 31, 1947, Ted was wed to Mildred Gala at Sts. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in Herkimer and together they shared in seventy years of marriage. Mildred passed away May 16, 2017. In his early years, to help with the war effort, Ted enlisted with the United States Navy and then the United States Army. He was retired military, honorably discharged as Sergeant First Class. He later took a position with Little Joe’s Dairy and retired as a machinist/sander with Remington Arms in Ilion. He was very devoted to his faith and was a parishioner at Sts. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church. Nothing gave him more joy, however, than the time he spent with his beloved family and he and Millie took great pride in watching it grow throughout the years. He is survived by his beloved family: his daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Angelos Tsiatsos, of New Smyrna Beach, FL; his sons and daughters-in-law, Theodore “Ted” and Loralee Alexander, of Beaver Falls, PA and John and Deborah Alexanderowicz, of Vernon, CT; his grandchildren, Edward Wells-Tsiatsos and his wife, Julie, Jeffrey Alexanderowicz, Kerry and Ronald Kretz, Lisa Hess, JR Alexanderowicz, Amy Alexanderowicz and Seth Alexanderowicz; and one great-grandson, Logan Kretz. He also leaves his sister, Helen Nudo; brother-in-law John Gala; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joe and Frank Malowski and Ed Alexander; and his sisters, Stella Glogowski, Jean Czarnecki and Regina Plizeck. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Ted’s visitation, which will take place on Friday morning, August 28, 2020, from 9:30AM – 10:30AM at the Enea Family Funeral Home (FKA Holleran Funeral Service), 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer (315) 866-1011. Ted’s funeral service will commence immediately upon conclusion of visitation, at 10:30AM at the funeral home and at 11:00AM, at Sts. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in East Herkimer, where his funeral will be officiated by Father Vasil Dubee. Procession will follow to Sts. Peter & Paul Orthodox Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. Full military honors will be accorded. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions in Ted's name, to Sts. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, 305 Main Road, Herkimer, NY 13350 OR to Hospice & Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
