Obituary of Gail M. Estey

ST. JOHNSVILLE - Gail M. Estey, 48, of Town of Oppenheim, passed away suddenly at her home, on Wednesday, September 16, 2020. Born on January 19, 1972, in Little Falls NY, Gail was the daughter of Richard and Bonnie Smith. Gail had graduated from Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School and received her Associates Degree from Fulton-Montgomery Community College. Gail was employed with the Fulton County Department of Social Services, as the director of (temporary) assistance, where she served the families of Fulton County since 1994. On November 17, 2001 she was united in marriage to Timothy Estey. Gail and Timothy along with their daughter Jayda resided in Oppenheim, NY in her childhood home. Gail enjoyed spending time at home, especially around her Oasis Pool Resort, where she spent countless hours perfecting it for her friends and family to enjoy at the many garage parties she hosted. Of course, Gail also enjoyed her wine freeze-pops around her Oasis. Gail’s most cherished accomplishment was her daughter, Jayda Katara. The special bond between these two was like no other. There was not anything they did not share, especially during the many rides to school, as well as many interior decorating projects they tackled side-by-side. Gail also had a very special relationship with her nephew, Jabin. She treasured the time that they spent together. The two of them spent countless hours together, at many races, when he was young, or the unconditional support she gave him at the baseball field. Gail is survived by her husband, Timothy; a daughter, Jayda, who resided at home; Mother, Bonnie (Congdon) Smith; Brother, Richard (Kelly) Smith; Sister, Robin (Wayne) Weaver; nephew, Jabin (Tory) Weaver; brothers-In-Law, Vernon (Theresa) Estey and Robert Estey; and Sisters-In-Law, Sheila (Gary) Pierce and Patricia (Eric) Hilligas. Gail was predeceased by her father, Richard. Gail had a special place in her heart for all her furry friends and if you all knew one thing about Gail, it was how meticulous she was with the care of her home. She even had her own lawn care service (Jake Grossman’s Lawn Care Service, a.k.a. Jayda’s special friend). Lastly, Gail was a straight shooter and you knew where you stood. Gail will be missed by her many family and friends and will leave a void that is impossible to fill. In keeping with Gail’s wishes, services will be private. Anyone wishing to celebrate Gail’s life and pay respects to the family, can visit on Saturday, September 19th, from 2-4 P.M., at the family home, (207 Bliss Road). Please respect those who are practicing safe social distancing. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the James A. Brennan Humane Society, located at 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, New York 12078. Envelopes will be available at the family home on Saturday or any time at the Enea Family Funeral Home.
