Obituary of Charles R. Doris, Sr.

SCHUYLER – Mr. Charles R. Doris, Sr., 63, of Schuyler, NY, passed away on September 16, 2020, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica, New York with his loving family by his side. Big Chuck, as he was known to all, was born on October 2, 1956, in Utica, NY, a son of John Doris and Ruth Files. He attended Utica schools and was employed by the Utica DPW for several years. After leaving the DPW, he ventured into business with his lifelong friend, Gary, always making sure his family was taken care of. Chuck married his best friend and the love of his life, Susan DeAngelo, on May 4, 1974. Together they raised an amazing family including several foster children of which he was so proud. Chuck loved the outdoors whether it be hunting, fishing, camping, or coaching a baseball team. He was an avid bowler and cherished the time spent with his friends doing the things he loved. He had a great love of music and could often be found with a guitar in his hand. his favorite songs were the silly ones he would make up. His family will never forget the hours spent at the River, the ball fields, or the never ending car rides. Chuck is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Doris, of Schuyler; his children, Charles (Nicole) Doris, of Schuyler, Jay (Heather) Doris, of Middleville, Kimberly (Michael) Sabatino, of Little Falls, Jose Macon (Lori Grainer Denmark), of Herkimer, Amanda (Michael) Sweet, of Salisbury Center, Debi Ann Morrissey, of Schuyler; his beloved Grandchildren, Julia Doris (Ruvim Suprunchik), Marissa Doris (Anthony Inman), Karie, Jay, Susan, Jonathan, Charlie Doris, Candice, Katie, Sofia Sabatino, Olivia Leyko, Kinslee Sweet, andNoah Inman; His siblings, John (Bev) Doris, Stella Moore, Donna Walker, Debbie Rocco, and Kelly (Leo) Lafleur; and many special nieces, nephews and dear friends. Chuck is predeceased by his father, John Doris; his mother, Ruth Files; his daughter, Elizabeth Doris; his sister, Kathy Rocco, his great grandbabies/angels Alana Marie and Nadia Faye Inman. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 21, 2020, at 11:00 AM, at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, (Town of Frankfort), Ilion, New York, with Pastor Sue Holland, officiating. Interment will take place in West Schuyler Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. There is a very special time for relatives and friends to attend a calling hour, Monday morning prior to the funeral service, at the funeral home, from 10 until 11AM. All are invited to attend the funeral service and the interment service to follow. If you plan to attend the funeral service, a face mask will be required. The family is so very thankful and appreciative to MVHS Pulmonary and Critical Care office, the MVHS Palliative team and St. Elizabeth nurses, on 3A - especially Chelsie White, RN.
