HAMILTON – Mr. Warren David Wilson, age 71, a lifelong area resident, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning, September 22, 2020, after complications following heart surgery. His passing occurred at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown with the love and support of his family at his side. Born in Herkimer on January 21, 1949, David was the son of the late Warren D. and Helen G. (Dunning) Wilson. He was raised and educated locally, graduating with the Mohawk High School Class of 1967. At one time, David shared in a marriage with the former Kathleen E. Jock, a union from which came two daughters. He also shared in a relationship with Ruth Ann (Relyea) Dungey and the two were blessed with a son. Shortly after graduating from high school, David was drafted into the United States Army and served his country throughout the Vietnam Era. He received his honorable discharge on April 9, 1973. Upon his return from military duty, David began his career as an engineer and throughout the years, worked for various companies, including Cogar, Remington Arms, General Electric and lastly at PAR Technologies, a position from which he retired. David held a passion for making music and was a gifted guitarist; spending many years as a member of the band, SSB & Company. He also had an intense interest in botany and gardening and was even successful in creating his own pepper and tomato hybrids. He was an extremely intelligent individual whose brain was always working overtime. In his spare time, David loved taking boat rides on Lake Moraine, enjoying the beauty of upstate New York and spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by his children, Heather Elizabeth (Wilson) Hight and husband, John of Mohawk, Heidi Anne Wilson of Massachusetts and Warren Daniel Wilson of Hamilton; his grandchildren, Casey Hicks and wife, Grace of New Hartford, Aaron Hicks and Olivia Johnson of Rome, Julia Hight of Mohawk, Gabriela Rodezno of Florida and Caleb Rodezno of Massachusetts; and he eagerly awaited the arrival of his first great-grandchild on the way. He also leaves his sister, Barbara Wilson LaBarbera of East Herkimer, his longtime best friend, Bill Fields, his wife, Grace and daughter, Amanda, and his lifelong friend, Salvatore “Buddy” Guido, his wife, Rita and daughter, Cecelia. Besides for his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Salvatore LaBarbera.
