Obituary of Maureen (Grieco) Macri

ROME – Mrs. Maureen C. “Renee” Macri, age 74, passed away on Monday evening, October 12, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center in Syracuse. She was born on November 7, 1945 in Rome, NY, the beloved first child of the late Louis and Sandra Grieco. She was raised and educated locally, attending the Academy of Holy Names and graduating from Rome Free Academy with the Class of 1965. She then went on to attend the Mohawk Valley Technical Institute, the University of Oklahoma and Rose State College, also in Oklahoma. She spent her career and retired as a civil servant for the United States Air Force. Renee was an accomplished pianist, having studied music at the Academy of Holy Names for twelve years. She loved animals and loved to paint, sew, craft, garden and read. She was not able to participate in her favorite hobbies for the past few years as she suffered from numerous, painful health issues. Our family seeks comfort in knowing that Renee is no longer in pain and is resting in God’s peace. Renee is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph Macri; her step-children, Elvis Macri, Sara Macri and Jennifer Macri; and her grandchildren, Evan Macri and Nathan Langston. She also leaves her brother, Ralph Grieco (Donna) of Chester, Virginia; a nephew, Jeffrey Grieco (Amy) of Dinwiddie, Virginia; a niece, Lesley Grieco Wirt (Jonathon) of Cary, North Carolina; an Uncle and Aunt, Richard and Carol Gugliotta of Brewerton, NY; and many cousins and friends. In keeping with Renee’s wishes, her family will bid their farewells to her in a private gathering. Final internment will take place in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Rome. The family would like to express sincere appreciation for and gratitude to the doctors and staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital for the considerate and compassionate care provided to Renee. Final arrangements have been entrusted to Harry and Kevin Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia, Funeral Directors of the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000. Online notes of sympathy may be left at www.eneafamily.com
