Obituary of David W. Farber

COLD BROOK – Mr. David Walrath Farber, 65, a longtime resident of Cold Brook, passed away on Sunday evening, October 25, 2020, in Ilion, New York. Born on August 31,1955, in Little Falls, David was the son of the late Stewart F. & Lillian W. (Walrath) Farber. Raised and educated locally he attended St. Francis de Sales and Herkimer schools and went on to attend Cornell University Culinary School. He served as manager of Farber’s General Store in Piseco, New York for many years. He was devoted to the Catholic faith and was a member of the Cold Brook Sons of the American Legion Post #1118. He is survived by his lifelong faithful companion, Ty; his brother and sister-in-law, Ervin “Cap” Fuller and his wife, Carlotta, of Herkimer; many nieces and nephews, including Brian Fuller and his wife, Erin, Cindy Hopkinson, Arthur “Skeeter” Gallagher and Bill Gallagher; and very special friends, including Bob Gregorka and Tom Baum. He was predeceased by his parents, Stewart and Lillian; and brother, Jim. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2020, at 10:15 AM, from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, in Herkimer, New York and at 11:00 AM, at the St. John the Baptist Church, 7512 Main Street, Newport, New York, with Father Terence Healy, Celebrating David’s Mass of Christian Burial, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will take place in St. John’s Cemetery, Newport. Calling hours at the funeral home are on Wednesday, October 28th from 4 until 7 PM and all are invited to attend the funeral service and the interment service on Thursday, as well. If you plan to attend the calling hours and funeral service, a face mask is preferred. Expressions of sympathy for those who so wish to do so may be considered to the American Cancer Society, 110 Lomond Ct., Utica, NY 13502. Envelopes will be available at the Enea Family Funeral Home. The family is so very thankful and appreciative to the 3rd Floor Staff of the Grand in Ilion, Father Paul Catena and the Kuyahoora Ambulance crew and Paramedics for the care and compassion they provided to David and his loved ones during this difficult time.
