NELLISTON – Mr. Edward C. Aker, 65, of Nellis Street, Nelliston, New York, passed away comfortably, on Wednesday, December 9th, 2020, at Ellis Hospital, in Schenectady, New York. Ed was born August 2nd 1955, in Cobleskill, New York, a son of the late Ray Charles Aker, Jr. and Elizabeth E. (Grant) Aker. He attended and graduated from Sharon Springs High School and went on to serve our country with the United States Army for 37 months, having spent time overseas in the South Pacific. Ed enjoyed working with Empire Livestock, Central Bridge, New York for eight years where he tended to animals. Survivors include his girlfriend and partner, Judy Aker, at home. He was the love of her life. They were just the happiest couple. Also surviving are his daughter, Christina Russell; his son, Garry Sweet; and Judy’s mom, Lillian Billings. He was uncle, grandpa and uncle Pop to his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He leaves his granddaughter, Emily Russell; his brothers, Walter Aker and David (Kathy) Aker; and his sister, Kathleen (Dan) West. His sisters that passed away are Phyllis and Virginia Aker. Ed was the little brother! His nieces and nephews survive, April, Constance, Matthew, Nathan, Holly, Amanda, Susan and Danny; along with great-nieces and great-nephews. Ed was a man whose love for the Lord ran deep with an investment in faith that kept him driven day in and day out. A hard - working farmer most of his life, he served his country and went back to that farm life. He was someone who loved life and enjoyed every moment that he was able to. What wonderful times he has had traveling to Virginia, Pennsylvania and all over New York State. He was someone who would brighten up the entire room. When the weather was right and the fish were biting, you could find him with a pole at some of the best fishing holes. Ed would bear hug you until you smiled, laughed, or said uncle! Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at 2:00 p.m., at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center Street, St. Johnsville, NY. There will be calling hours at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the funeral services which will be military attended. If you plan to attend the calling hours or funeral services, a face mask will be required. Thank you. Interment will take place in the spring, 2021, at Gallupville Rural Cemetery, Town of Wright, in Schoharie County.
