ST. JOHNSVILLE – Mr. Donald E. Hoffman, age 77, of State Highway 67, passed away peacefully with his family at his side, on Thursday afternoon, December 10, 2020, at the Community Hospice of St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany, New York. He was born on August 2, 1943, in Little Falls, New York, a son of the late Harold and Margaret (Nellis) Hoffman and was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School, ‘Class of 1961.’ He was united in marriage with the former Linda J. VanPatten on September 26, 1992. Don worked as a Fleet Supervisor with Freihoffer’s, Albany, New York and enjoyed several years as a bus driver with Brown’s Transportation with many routes within the Little Falls school district. Don dedicated his life to our community. He was a 59 - year member of the St. Johnsville Fire Department and served with the St. Johnsville Ambulance Corps. One of his favorite hobbies was going to antique car shows. He restored vintage cars, rode motorcycles and loved taking cruises. He built the beautiful log cabin home that his family lives in. Don was a racing enthusiast and raced himself years ago. He was the backbone of Hoffman Racing, which started in the late 1960’s and runs currently today. The team has won many championships. All in all, Don was a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, just a true family man. We will always look back fondly upon his amazing talents and personal qualities. A great guy, he was a friend to many, was loved and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Don was always dedicating his time with the St. Johnsville Fireman’s Fair as well, always eagerly helping and cooking! He is survived by his beloved family: his loving wife of 28 years, Linda; his loving children, Todd Hoffman (Melissa), Daren Hoffman (Sheila), Paul Hoffman (Jill), Donald Hoffman, Jr. (Sonya), Thomas Oare (Tammy) and Lynette Oare (Jeff); devoted grandfather, to Joshua (Christine), Hailey, Meghan, Michael, Chloe, McKayla, Kenidee, Grace, Cayden, Caleb, Brienne, Joseph, Danion and Hillary; great-grandfather, to Isaac, Alec, Corey, Celeste, and Kimberley; loving brother, to Patricia Hoffman and Kevin Hoffman (Sally); and proud uncle, of several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his In-Laws, Karen & Allan Polmateer and Lisa Buckbee. Don was predeceased by his parents, Harold & Margaret; his brother, Paul; and his brothers-in-law, Carl & Timothy VanPatten. Funeral services with full first responder honors will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at 11:00 AM, at St. John’s Reformed Church, 68 West Main Street, in St. Johnsville, New York, with Rev.
