Obituary of Marie Treen

Mrs. Marie G. Treen, age 80, beloved wife of Richard “Dick” Treen, passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon, December 17, 2020, at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center. Born on April 28, 1940, Marie was the daughter of the late James and Pauline DeFazio. She was raised and educated in Frankfort and was a graduate with the Frankfort High School Class of 1959. She then went on to continue her education at Mohawk Valley Community College where she earned a degree in Medical Terminology. On March 23, 1963, Marie was joined in marriage to Richard Treen and together they spent over fifty-seven years in a loving and devoted union. As a couple, Marie and Dick were inseparable and always there for one another through both good times and bad. The majority of Marie’s working years were spent as a House Manager for the Mohawk ARC, a position which she enjoyed and gained much satisfaction from. In her spare time, she enjoyed trips to the casino, playing Bingo and garage sales. Above all else, however, was the love that she had for her children and grandchildren; her presence will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Marie is survived by her beloved husband, Dick; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kristen Treen of North Utica and her daughter and son-in-law, Tami and Raymond “Buzzy” DeLuke of Vonore, Tennessee. Always in her heart was the memory of her beloved daughter, Terri Treen, who passed away on September 13, 2015. She also leaves her four grandchildren, Joseph Swienton, James Swienton, Michael DeLuke and Marissa Herrick; her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Betsy DeFazio of Liverpool; and her sister, Lucille Howard-Kelly of Clinton; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. Marie always cherished the special relationship with her goddaughter Nadine Basler. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and caregivers at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center for their care and compassion during her illness. In keeping with Marie’s wishes and under the current health situation of our community, the Treen family will gather in a private ceremony to bid their farewells. Final arrangements have been entrusted to the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000, Harry and Kevin Enea and Martin L.
