Obituary of Chester J. Sobolewski

FRANKFORT – Mr. Chester J. Sobolewski, age 89, of Elizabeth Street, Frankfort, New York, passed away at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, in the City of Utica, on Monday morning, January 11, 2021, surrounded by the love of his family. Chester was born on February 25, 1931, in Utica, New York, the son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Piekielniak) Sobolewski. He was a long-term resident of Marcy, New York and recently moved to Frankfort. He was a United States Air Force Veteran, 1951-1955 and was a Senior Aircraft Jet Engine Mechanic. He worked for many years and retired from Special Metals, New Hartford, maintenance department. Chester was a fisherman, a hunter and played golf with the Special Metals Men’s Golf League through the years. He was of the Catholic faith. In his spare time, he tremendously enjoyed Oneida Lake, particularly his camp at Verona Beach. He dedicated his life to his family who will miss him and always cherish the memories. He was a bowling enthusiast and loved playing the lotto scratch off’s every single day and winning on occasion! He leaves behind his daughter and son-in-law, Kris and Mike Wilson, Sr., of Frankfort; his son, Gary Sobolewski, of Florida; his sister, Josephine Lape, of Utica; his grandchildren, Cheri and Matt, Michael, Jr., Jessica, Christopher, Tyler and Caleb; two great-grandchildren, Makayla and Caycee; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by Connie and his brothers, Edward, Stanley and Charles ‘Kasimir’ Sobolewski. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, January 15, 2021, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, in Ilion, New York (Town of Frankfort). A Catholic funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 6:00 PM, immediately upon the conclusion of visitation, with Sr. Mary Jo Tallman, officiating, followed by military honors. If you plan to attend the calling hours or remembrance service, due to COVID 19, a face mask will be required. Thank you.
