Robert Hailston, Jr.

Obituary of Robert Hailston, Jr.

HERKIMER – Robert Hailston, Jr., age 60, currently of Herkimer and formerly of Georgia, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at his home. Born on August 1, 1960, Robert was the son of Robert Hailston, Sr. and Sharon (Newman) Barrett. He was raised and educated locally and attended Ilion schools. As a young man, Robert enlisted and served with United States Army and was a proud veteran. He lived for many years in the Mohawk Valley and spent a few years in the state of Georgia before returning to the valley where he worked in the maintenance department at Herkimer Walmart. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends or by himself. He enjoyed cooking and trying out old and new recipes; and got a kick out of teasing his family on who could cook better. We let him think he won! He loved Harley’s and was often rebuilding one. Bob was a great mechanic and knew his way around cars, trucks and bikes. He especially loved his Harley that he redid himself. He shared a special bond with his beloved siblings, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is survived by his father, Robert Hailston Sr. and Cora Mueller of New York; he was predeceased by his mother, Sharon Barrett in 2016. He leaves his sisters, Cheryl (Hailston) Lupinski and husband, Brian, of Georgia, Anne Siriani and husband, John, of Florida, Letticia Hardy and Richard Hopkinson of New York and Lonnie Hardy of New York; his brothers, David Perry of Germany, Richard Perry and wife, Sheila, of Alabama and Larry Hardy of New York; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and many, many friends. You will be missed. Rest easy…ride on big brother… Due to current health restrictions, there will be no formal funeral services at this time. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date and time to be announced. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000, Harry and Kevin Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia, Funeral Directors.
