Obituary of Mary M. Morvitz

EAST HERKIMER – Mary M. Morvitz, 79, of East Herkimer, had passed away on Thursday January 14, 2021, at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, New York. Mary Morvitz was born on March 31, 1941, to Josephine Thompson and Florian Morvitz, in the Town of Lincklean, New York. She resided in Oldfield Drive IRA, in Herkimer, NY at the time of her passing. Prior to coming to the IRA, Mary resided in Diana Countryman’s Family Care Home, in Mohawk, NY, for over 20 wonderful years. Mary was loved by everyone she came in contact with. She could often be found amongst her friends either at the IRA or at her day program at Valley Health looking beautiful, as she valued looking her best with her makeup on, nails done, perfume on and her carefully picked out attire which often was red, as it was her favorite color. In Mary’s youth she enjoyed camping, riding snowmobiles, going to Dave’s diner with her “family care” family and reminiscing about those times. She loved caring for the family dogs, attending church, crocheting, watching the Hallmark Channel and shopping. Mary was a very kind and generous soul, she not only gave her unconditional love but also found great pleasure in giving gifts, often homemade. She would often inquire about her former staff, keeping track of all those she held dear to her heart. Mary had a way of making people feel special and appreciated, always grateful for all that was done for her. Mary will be fondly remembered and be missed greatly by all who had the pleasure to know her. She is survived by her cousin, Joan Gaullberti, who resides in NYC. A celebration of Mary’s life will be scheduled at a later date, with interment at Mohawk Cemetery. Her funeral arrangements have been coordinated with the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, in Ilion, New York, Funeral Directors Harry J. Enea, Jr., Kevin E. Enea & Martin L. Ciaccia (315) 894-8000. In Lieu of flowers or donations please “Pay it forward”, show a kindness in Mary’s memory.
