Obituary of Brenda J. Countryman

ST. JOHNSVILLE - Mrs. Brenda J. Countryman, 57, of Mechanic Street St., Johnsville, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Friday morning, February 12, 2021, at Albany Medical Center. She will always be in the hearts of her loving family. She was born on March 18, 1963, in Gloversville, New York, the youngest daughter of the late John L. and Eleanore (Blood) Smith. Brenda attended Meco and St. Johnsville schools, graduating from St. Johnsville High School, ‘Class of 1981.’ On October 9, 1983, Brenda joined in marriage with her high school sweetheart and love of her life, David H. Countryman. She worked at various jobs, including Medical Linen Systems for 19 years and Stewarts, both in St. Johnsville. She worked at Big Lots in Palatine Bridge as a Service Lead for the past 7 years. Brenda was fond and caring to all animals, especially her Maddie and her many cats through the years. She was most happy being in the comfortable surroundings of her home where she would kick back and relax and enjoy her pool and being with David. She sincerely had a heart of gold and was the easiest going person who would do anything for anyone. She truly was the nicest person. We will love and remember Brenda forever. Survivors include her beloved husband of over 37 years, David; her siblings, Shirley Cook and her husband, David, of Meco, Sharon Gray and her husband, Marvin, of Ephratah, Barbara Greene and her husband, Tom, of North Carolina, James Smith and his companion, Annette Hall, of Ephratah and John Smith, of England; her in-laws, who were considered immediate family to Brenda; mother-in-law, Peggie Miles, of St. Johnsville; brother-in-law, Dean Countryman and his wife, Shannon; and sister-in-law, Debbie Countryman, all of St. Johnsville; Donna and Heather Countryman and the southern branch of the family; her many nieces, nephews (all of who affectionately referred to Brenda as A.B.); great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; and her Big Lots family and many other people who Brenda considered family. In keeping with Brenda's and her family wishes there are no calling hours. A graveside service for relatives and friends will be held at West St. Johnsville Cemetery, on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at 9:30 a.m., with Rev. David A. Johnson, officiating. If you plan to attend the graveside service, due to COVID restrictions, a face mask will be required. Thank you. The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to all of their friends in the community of St. Johnsville, the Mohawk Valley and various parts of the world, for the outpouring of support during this very difficult time. Also, thanks to the Albany Medical Center ICU staff for their attentive care. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations in Brenda's name be made to and directly mailed to Ayers Animal Shelter, 133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, New York 12166.
