Obituary of Alfred D. Amendolare, Sr.

FRANKFORT – Mr. Alfred D. Amendolare, Sr., age 95, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, March 15, 2021 at the MVHS St. Luke’s Campus with his loving family always at his side. Born on May 1, 1925, Alfred was the son of the late Giorgio and Maria Francesca (Tramontana) Amendolare. He was raised and educated locally. On April 17, 1943, he joined in a sacred and blessed union with the love of his life, the former Carolyn Ann Licari. Together they shared in a beautiful marriage spanning almost seventy-five years until Carolyn’s passing on February 24, 2018. A piece of Al’s heart went with her that day and his family takes comfort in knowing that the two are once again reunited in their heavenly kingdom. Al was a hardworking man and a strong provider for his wife and children. He spent his career with the New York State Thruway Authority where he worked as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1980. He was also certified as an AEP Heavy Equipment Instructor, passing along his talents and knowledge to the generations that followed. At home, Al was known as a jack of all trades and had a fondness for carpentry. He could fix anything and truly enjoyed the fruits of his labor. He was a member of the Columbian Society and St. Francis di Paola Society as well as a longtime parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church. In Alfred’s own words, “This is my obituary. Why bore you with things in life when they are gone? I love ALL of my children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their spouses. I had a wonderful life…some times were sad but mostly they were happy times. I made many friends which I will miss and I also made some enemies. I hope they will forgive me. When I am gone, don’t grieve for me. Someday we will meet again in another world. Goodbye and God Bless You!” Al is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Alfred Amendolare, Jr. and his wife, Linda of Frankfort; his daughters and sons-in-law, Georgiann Amendolare of Ilion, Carolyn and Richard Dunadee and Geraldine and Sam Simonette, all of Frankfort. He also leaves his cherished grandchildren, Nicole and Joe Camarata, Renee and Ed Maryott, Carlaine and Frank Madia, Cherri Ann and Mark Elefante, Carol Lynn and Marty Zarnock, Jeanna Simonette, Marie Simonette, Michele and Marshall Mullin, Alfred Amendolare, III and fiancee, Healther Urtz and Ellice and Jeff McQuay; and his great-grandchildren, Ashley, Brandon, Maria, Michael, Courtney, Victoria, Grace, Shelby, Kyle, Ryan and Kala. Al is also survived by his in-laws, Helen Licari and Annette Amendolare; a special niece and nephew, Mary Frances and Jim Palumbo; and special friends, Steve Salamone, Martha Cobb and Donna and Mike Schofield. Aside from his parents and beloved, Carolyn, Al was predeceased by his brothers, Charles Amendolare, Patsy Amendolare, George Amendolare and Joseph Amendolare; his sisters, Mary Frances Vivacqua, Helen Valente, Victoria Paoni, Josephine Winkler and Jennie Winkler; and a special uncle, Sam Amendolare.
