Obituary of Barbara R. Mannion

HERKIMER – Mrs. Barbara (Rehbach) Mannion, age 73, left this world too soon when she passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 30, 2021 at the MVHS St. Luke’s Campus, with her loving family at her side. Born on August 21, 1947, Barbara is the daughter of Patricia (Otto) Rehbach and the late John F. Rehbach. She was raised and educated in Irondequoit, NY graduating with the Irondequoit High School Class of 1965. She then went on to further her education at SUNY Geneseo, where she would meet and fall in love with her future husband, Earl Mannion. She went on to graduate from the Highland Hospital Nursing Program where she earned her license to practice as a Registered Nurse. On July 21, 1973, Barbara and Earl were married and began a journey of almost forty-seven years filled with love and laughter. Barbara began her nursing career in the Pediatric Department of Rochester General Hospital. She then went on to work at the Little Falls Hospital and the former Herkimer Hospital where she worked in the emergency departments. As her children began to arrive, she took a position as the school nurse for the Mohawk Central School District before finally retiring to raise her growing family. Not only was she the consummate wife and mother at home but she also worked alongside her husband in his growing business, Sunbelt Industries in Little Falls. Barbara loved spending time surrounded by her family and friends, not only making new memories but also reminiscing about the old ones. She would be the first to tell you that she was blessed and “lucky enough” to create cherished new memories with her family, and especially with her grandchildren, at her cottage on Lake Ontario. A place that became not only a place of solace for Barbara, but a safe haven for her entire family; together they will honor her life there for the years to come and this will be her lasting legacy. She is survived by her devoted husband, Earl; her son, Cory Mannion of Ilion; her daughters and sons-in-law, Casey and Robert Risi of Herkimer, Jill Thibault of Rochester and Molly and Brandon Ciallelo of Mohawk; and her four beloved grandchildren, Cade Ciallelo, Bradi Risi, Tiana Thibault and August Ciallelo. She also leaves her mother, Patricia Rehbach; sister, Linda Bradley; brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Carol Rehbach; her nieces, Sharon Bradley and Cathy and Jason Gartland; and her great-nephews, AJ and Chad, all of Irondequoit, NY. Her father, John F. Rehbach, predeceased her on April 6, 2018. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Memorial Celebration of Life for Barbara on Sunday, June 13, 2021 from 1:00PM - 4:00PM at the St. Paul Exempt Firemen's Home, 690 Thomas Avenue, Rochester, NY 14617.
