Obituary of Charlotte L. Laura

FRANKFORT – Mrs. Charlotte L. Laura, age 93, a lifelong Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, May 15, 2021, in the privacy and comfort of her home. At the time of her passing she had the love and support of her devoted husband and sons at her side. Born on December 17, 1927, Charlotte was the daughter of the late Joseph and Winifred (Woolnough) VanDusen. She was raised and educated locally and attended Frankfort schools. On September 17, 1949, Charlotte was united in Holy Matrimony with Anthony J. Laura at St. Mary’s Church in Frankfort. Together, they shared in a blessed and devoted union of over seventy-one years; they were an inseparable couple who were deeply committed to one another and to their family. They truly lived by their marriage vows every day of their life together. In her younger years, Charlotte worked in various positions throughout the valley, but when her sons were born she committed herself to being a wife and mother. She was dedicated to the well being of her husband and sons and proudly kept up the home, making sure they never went without. She held an inner strength all the while being kind, loving, warm and compassionate to others. According to her boys, she was “the best mother anyone could ever ask for.” In her spare time, Charlotte enjoyed tending to her yard and garden; as well as listening to music and keeping her mind sharp by doing crossword puzzles. Her and her husband, Tony, were longtime faithful parishioners of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort. Charlotte is survived by her beloved husband, Tony; her sons, Keith Laura and Timothy Laura; and her sisters-in-law, Nina Rumrill and Prudy Laura, all of Frankfort. She also leaves countless nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Lula DiCamillo; her brothers, John, Joseph, George and Robert VanDusen; and her brothers-in-law, Emanuele Laura and William Rumrill. Charlotte’s family will gather privately to bid their farewells to her. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Charlotte's Mass of Christian Burial, which will be offered by Rev. Paul Catena at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 10:30AM. Final committal will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frankfort. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions to Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, 412 South Frankfort Street, Frankfort, NY 13340. The Laura family has entrusted the care of their beloved wife and mother to the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000, Harry and Kevin Enea and Martin L.
