Obituary of Brandon W. Thompson

MOHAWK – Brandon W. Thompson, age 35, passed away unexpectedly on May 20, 2021, after losing his long-fought battle with addiction. Born on July 6, 1985, Brandon is the son of William Thompson and Therese (Platts) Homa. He was also blessed throughout his life to have the loving guidance of his Dad, Lance Sterling. Brandon’s childhood was spent in Mohawk and he attended Mohawk High School. He worked for a time with HMI Pratt & Whitney in Clayville in the quality control department. Brandon was a lover of the outdoors and of nature. He was a lover of animals. He was kind and sensitive and had a very giving heart. He cared for everyone and was a wonderful big brother to his younger siblings; his very presence would light up a room. He had a great sense of humor and made all those around him laugh. His loss leaves a deep void in those who loved him most. Brandon is survived by his parents, Therese “Terri” (Platts) Homa and Lance Sterling of Mohawk; his father, William Thompson of Mohawk; his maternal grandmother, Jean Platts of Mohawk ; his paternal grandfather, Ron Thompson of Herkimer; his siblings, Brittany Inman (Brad) of Yorkville, Chance Homa of Florida, Luke Sterling of Mohawk and Cameron and Brendon Thompson of Mohawk. He also leaves his beloved niece, Amelia Inman; the love of his life, Lindsey Sterling; his canine companions, Cooper, H.C. and Buster; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins, too numerous to mention. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Hercules Platts and his maternal grandmother, Marguerite Thompson. It is with great sorrow and broken hearts that Brandon’s family must say goodbye to him; his addiction to drugs ultimately ended his life and took him away from those who loved him most. If you or someone you love is fighting addiction, please get the help that is needed before it is too late. It is the family’s hope that in sharing Brandon’s story with the world, it might help save another’s life. Brandon’s family will gather privately to bid their farewells to him and commemorate his life. There will be no public services. Final arrangements have been entrusted to the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s larger location at 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000, Harry and Kevin Enea, Martin L.
