Obituary of Patricia Ann Hoag

UTICA – Patricia Ann Hoag, born April 3, 1951, to Elizabeth Marie Breed Hoag and Floyd Wilson Hoag’ in Syracuse, New York, entered the house of the Lord at 7:50 AM, on Monday, May 31, 2021. Pat passed away after a long battle with COPD, diabetes, and lung cancer. She was surrounded by family and loved ones in her final days. She was a graduate of Fabius Pompey High School. Patricia was employed as a youth, at the Brae Loch Inn, in Cazenovia and Captain John’s, in Sylvan Beach. She worked at Gueffries, in Canastota, where she met Ronald D. Nicholson, Sr. Pat and Ron remained together for 28 years and they had four children together, Patty A. Nicholson Wallis, Ronald D. Nicholson, Jr., Rhonda L. Myers and Tina L. Nicholson Phillips. Pat was a longtime employee at Mele Manufacturing and Dunlop Tire, in Utica, New York. In 1982, Ron & Pat moved to Boonville, New York. In the Spring of 1983, they bought a home, in Forestport, New York and Pat worked as a bartender for a few years and made money and new friends! She was also a house keeper for Roberts 4 Seasons Camp for a long period of time. Later in life, she did private duty home care and went on to get her CNA and worked at Broadacres Nursing Home until it closed. She then went back to private duty and Loretto. In 1988, Pat was diagnosed with Breast Cancer after a left sided mastectomy radiation and chemo treatment. She beat breast cancer and returned to work. Pat always opened her heart and home to many in need. She was always there to help her family in any way she could. Pat is survived by her siblings: Elizabeth, Margaret Sue, Lynn and Nora and brothers, Raymond, Larry and Brett; her children, Patty & Jerry Wallis, Ronald D. Nicholson and his significant other, Amy, Rhonda & Duane Meyers, Tina L. Phillips and her significant other, Mike; surviving grandchildren, Tylor W. Nicholson and his fiancée, Jessica, Angel Nicholson, Savannah Wallis and her fiancé, Mike Jordan Phillips, Amanda Akins, Emylee Wallis and her fiancé Mike, Shelby Mazurowski, Jerry Wallis, Jr. and his wife, Skye, Stephanie Mazurowski, Tiffany and Katarzyna Mazurowski, Dylan and Alyssa Grenier, Bryan and Tonya Drummond, Cassie and Nicholas Fuller and Thomas and Dakota Sherman; great-grandchildren, Lilly & Bella House, Andrew Mandem, Chrysanthamum Wallis, Lionidas Maximum, Rita Lynn Patricia Wallis, Aurora Snyder, Zyaire Howard Zavion Phillips, Haley, Charlie and Raven. Also surviving her are several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, aunts, and uncles. Pat was the best mother, sister, aunt, daughter, friend and employee that anyone could ever ask for. She will definitely be missed and remembered by all dearly! She gave and had more people love her than anyone could imagine. She loved her dog, Molly, ever so much! She was predeceased her three sons who were born to be angels; her grandson, Dylon; her grandmother, Marian Breed; her grandfather, Kermit Breed; her mother, Elizabeth Thurston; her father, Floyd Hoag; the man she knew as her dad, Carlton K. Thurston; her brothers, Arthor Brian Thurston; and her sisters, Mary Hollenbeck and Judith O. Nicholson. She was also predeceased by brothers, Dale and Floyd Hoag and Kenneth Thurston; nephew, Bruce Hollenbeck; her longtime fiancé, Victor Rios; as well as her longtime husband, Ronald D. Nicholson, Sr. A private service for friends and family will be held at 6548 Sholtz Road, Verona, New York 13478, on Saturday, June 5th, 2021, at 3PM until ?, with Frank Wallis, Sr., officiating.
