ILION – Mrs. Claudia A. Wieliczka, age 76, currently of Ilion and formerly a longtime Little Falls resident, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at the MVHS St. Luke’s Campus. At the time of her passing she had the love and support of her family at her side. Born on November 9, 1945, Claudia was the daughter of the late Samuel and Irma (Heath) Talaba. She was raised and educated in Little Falls, graduating from Little Falls High School with the Class of 1963. She then went on to further her education at Albany Business College. In 1966 Claudia was blessed to begin her marriage with Robert S. Wieliczka, Sr. and together they spent fifty-five years in a loving and devoted union. Claudia was a hardworking woman and for twenty-three years she worked at the Ilion’s Big M supermarket for the late Don Musella; she then went on to a position as a front desk clerk at the former Herkimer Motel. In her spare time, Claudia loved entertaining and cooking for her growing family; nothing gave her greater pleasure than gathering those she loved around her table. She also loved the simplicity of relaxing on her porch, tending to her plants and pets and trips to the casino. Claudia is survived by her beloved husband, Robert; her daughter, Lisa Simpkins of Ilion; her son, Robert Wieliczka, Jr. and his girlfriend, Lisa, of Ilion; her granddaughter, Samantha Simpkins and her fiancé TJ; her brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Karen Talaba of Little Falls; her in-laws, Sharon and Don Plunkett; her niece Carrie Plunkett; her uncle, Robert Heath; and by numerous beloved cousins and friends, especially her dearest high school friend, Anne Clark (Snooky). In keeping with Claudia’s wishes, there will be no formal calling hours or funeral service at this time. Spring interment will take place in the family plot in Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Little Falls.
