Obituary of Shirley A. Marine

HERKIMER – Mrs. Shirley A. Marine, age 89, a lifelong Mohawk Valley resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, April 27, 2022, at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center. At the time of her passing she had her three special girls at her bedside. Born in Herkimer on January 2, 1933, Shirley was the daughter of the late Robert and Agatha (Shields) Hall. She was raised and educated locally. At one time, Shirley was wed to the late Donald W. Cristman, a relationship from which came three beloved children. Shirley and Don remained good friends until his passing in 2005. Shirley was blessed to share in a second marriage with John “Jack” Marine and they were married for over thirty years until Jack’s passing on November 20, 2019. For many years, Shirley was employed as an assembler with MDS in Herkimer. She held a tremendous love for her beloved family and nothing gave her greater joy than being in their company. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Kathy Cimino of Ilion and son-in-law, Eugene Cimino of Herkimer; her daughter, Linda Pavlot and husband, Dana Cool, of Herkimer; her son, Donald “Cris” Cristman and wife, Denise, of Arizona; her grandchildren, Christina Cimino and boyfriend, Hunter Worden, Chelsea and Anthony Sansone, Ryan and Tina Pavlot, Candice and Cruz Esparza, Casey and Sarah Cristman, Corey Cristman, Caty and Adam Skerrett, and Carissa Cristman and fiancé, Ethan Cline; many great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. She was predeceased by her parents, husbands, two sisters, Pauline Parks and Susan Nichols, and her grandson, Cory Pavlot. Over these last years, as Shirley’s health declined, she was blessed to reside at Valley Health Services in Herkimer. To all my wonderful friends at VHS (too many to name), thank you for making her final years filled with love and laughter. Gorgeous, beautiful and sassy Nonny will always be in your hearts. Thank you so very much for watching over her. She loved you all! A special thank you is also extended to the staff of St. Elizabeth’s ICU, especially Russell and Dave, for their kindness and compassion during Shirley’s last days. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Shirley’s funeral service on Monday morning, May 2, 2022, at 10:30AM at the Church of the Annunciation, West Street, Ilion, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Paul Catena, Pastor. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer at the convenience of the family. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions to Valley Health Services, Activities Department, 690 West German Street, Herkimer, NY 13350. Envelopes will be available at the church. Shirley’s final wishes were pre-arranged and entrusted to the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000.
