Obituary of Frances P. (Durse) Irons

Mrs. Frances P. “Chic” (Durse) Irons, age 92, formerly a longtime Frankfort resident, and currently of Fort Myers, Florida, entered into eternal rest on Friday afternoon, December 2, 2022, at Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is once again reunited with her beloved husband, Allen. Born in Frankfort on August 10, 1930, Frances was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (DiMaio) Durse. She attended Frankfort schools and was a lifelong Frankfort resident. On June 18, 1949, she was wed to her soul mate and the love of her life, Allen Irons, at St. Mary’s Church in Frankfort. Together they shared in 54 years of closeness and happiness, complimenting and supporting one another in every aspect of life. Al passed away on August 2, 2003 and there was not a day that went by that Chic didn’t miss him dearly. Chic, as she was affectionately known, was happiest when surrounded by her family. She loved to cook and bake, especially Christmas cookies, and everyone was always welcomed into her home to “sit and have something to eat!” Her time on this earth was dedicated to loving and supporting her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she had a knack for telling stories that would make you laugh until you cried and vice versa. She was blessed to be able to travel the world and especially enjoyed her time in Fort Myers, Florida, where she has resided for the past fifteen years. She could often be found at the casino slots or enjoying a Sunday NFL football game. She was a longtime communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church as well as a former member of the St. Francis di Paola Ladies’ Auxiliary. Chic is survived by her five beloved children, Allen Irons and his wife, Leigh, MaryJo McGee and her husband, Dennis, and Jana McKinney and her husband, Steve, all of Texas, and Michael Irons and his wife, Heather, and Patrick Irons and his wife, Bianca, all of Frankfort; her beloved grandchildren, Allison Rice and her husband, Kalon, Derrick “Buck” McGee, Stephen McKinney, Rachel McKinney, Ian McKinney, Michael Irons, John Irons, Alyssa Irons, Ethan Irons and Ava Irons; and her three great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Rice, Rocco McGee and Max McGee. She also leaves her sister, Madeline (Durse) Rella of Oriskany; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Allen; her siblings, Tony Stabile, Mary Stabile, Grace (Stabile) Povia, Annette (Durse) Pawlinga, Flora (Durse) Jones, Pearl (Durse) Rusteburg, Yolanda (Durse) Speer and Margaret (Durse) Rella; her grandsons, Allen Irons, III, Dennis "Deed" McGee, Jr. and Carl McGee; and one great-granddaughter, Isabella McGee. A graveside service commemorating Chic’s life will take place on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 11:00AM at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frankfort where her earthly remains will be laid to rest beside her husband, Allen. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The Irons family has entrusted the care of their beloved mother and grandmother to the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000, Harry and Kevin Enea and Martin L.
