ILION-CAROGA LAKE – John Patrick Stubley,age 60, of Caroga Lake, NY, formerly of Ilion, passed away peacefully, on Monday, December 26, 2022, at home. He was born on November 9, 1962, in Ilion, the son of Herman “Ben” Thomas Stubley and Frances (Damanda) Stubley and attended Ilion schools. John was a self-employed House Painter for many years. In the end, Johnny was a simple man. He loved hunting, fishing, riding Harleys, his children, buying and selling antique snow mobiles and walking his dogs (Jill and Jake) in the woods. He was our mother’s world. RIP Johnny. Surviving family members include his mother, Frances Stubley; his two children, Derek and Ericka Stubley; his 4 sisters, Judith Stubley Cox and her husband, Michael, Barbara Stubley Lozano and her husband, Amado, Jacqueline Stubley Thomas and Robin Stubley Baker and her husband, Andrew; his 2 brothers, Thomas Stubley and his wife, Lorraine and Charlie Stubley and his wife, Lisa; 3 grandchildren, Kai, Harmony and Shaun Stubley; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; and many friends. He was predeceased by his father, Herman “Ben” Thomas Stubley; his brother, Timothy Stubley; and his sister, Nancy Stubley Day. A Celebration of John’s Life and Graveside Service will be held later this spring, at a date and time to be announced, at the family plot, at St. Agnes Cemetery, in North Ilion, NY.
