Obituary of Floy Ann Baldwin

ILION – Floy Ann Baldwin, of Ilion, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital, New Hartford, NY. Floy was born in Ilion, NY, on December 29, 1949, the first daughter to the late Ferd Ames and Winifred Ames. She went to Ilion High School and after graduation she attended Wetmore School of Nursing and practiced nursing, at Ilion Hospital. She later transitioned careers and became a teacher’s aide at Barringer Road Remington Elementary, Ilion and BOCES, of Herkimer County. In 1997, she attended the Finger Lakes School of Massage where she became a licensed Massage Therapist. After graduation she started her own successful business, In-Touch Therapeutic Massage. Floy spent her life as a caregiver, teacher and healer, helping and enriching everyone’s life along the way selflessly. She was married to her loving husband, David Thomas Baldwin, on August 1, 1970, at Annunciation Church, in Ilion NY. She is survived by her husband, David; her 2 sons, her eldest son, Chad David Baldwin and his spouse, Renee Baldwin and their two sons, Matthew and Joshua (Grandma’s boys). They reside in Herkimer, New York; and her youngest son Greg David Baldwin, of Brooklyn NY. Floy was the eldest of 3 siblings and is survived by 2 sisters, Gwen Collis and brother-in-law, Gary Collis, of The Villages, in Florida, and her youngest sister, Dona Carpenter and brother-in-law, Donald Carpenter, of Little Falls, New York. She is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Through her life, Floy had many friends and enjoyed spending time with them, especially at her summer place at Kring point, on the St. Lawrence River. Her most special friends were Jody Janicki, of Ilion, Karen Johnston, of Utica and Kelly Myszkowski, of Little Falls. They were with her on her final day and forever. Floy was predeceased by her beloved canine companions, Mitzy and Maggie Mae. The Family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Luke’s Hospital for the exceptional care they provided during this difficult time. In accordance with Floy’s wishes, there will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Floy’s memory to the Herkimer County Humane Society, 514 State Rte 5S, Mohawk, NY 13407.
