Obituary of Robert Charles Alguire

LITTLE FALLS- Robert Charles "Bob" Alguire, age 87 of 2 Dale Place, entered into eternal rest on Saturday evening, February 26, 2011 at Little Falls Hospital with the love and support of his wife Betty and daughter Cindy at his side. Mr. Alguire was born on December 6, 1923 in Utica, the son of the late Jayfred and May (Hodge) Alguire. Bob graduated with the Dolgeville High School, "Class of 1940" and continued his education at West Virginia University until being drafted into the US Army. He was honorably discharged on March 2, 1943 from Camp Beale, California holding the rank of Technician 5th Grade. Bob was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, World War 2 Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal. He later continued his education at Utica College of Syracuse University graduating with a Degree in English. Bob retired from Local 181 I.B.E.W. as an electrician after 50 years of service. On January 24, 1953 Bob married Betty Ann Kubica at the First Presbyterian Church Little Falls in a candle light ceremony performed by Reverend Harold Thompson. They recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Bob was an avid golfer and a member of the Mohawk Valley Country Club. He was also a member of the Little Falls Elks Lodge #42 and the American Legion. Survivors include his wife Betty Ann and daughter Cynthia Griffin both of Little Falls, cherished grandchildren Samuel J. Harkins and Aaron J. Griffin, twin great grandchildren Ava and Jacob Harkins, and his sister-in-law, Martha Alguire. He was preceded by his son, Brian R. Alguire and a brother, William Alguire. The Alguire family are deeply grateful to the 3rd floor and emergency room staff of Little Falls Hospital, the Little Falls Ambulance personnel, and Drs. David Lui and Douglas Haas. In keeping with Mr. Alguire's wishes services will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial offerings can be made in memory of Bob to the Brian R. Alguire Scholarship Award c/o Little Falls School District. Services are being provided by Daniel J. Enea, Director-Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls.
