Obituary of Anna Atkins

Mrs. Anna Y. Atkins 84 a resident of the Erie Wing of the Masonic Care Community, Utica and formerly of Ransom Street Dolgeville, died Friday evening August 27, 2010 at the Masonic Home in Utica. Anna was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 21, 1926 the daughter of Joseph and Theresa (Zybro) Sierocki and moved to this area with her family as a young girl. She was a graduate of West Canada Valley School. She was employed by the former Daniel Green Company of Dolgeville for many years retiring from there in 1981. Anna was a faithful member of the Dolgeville United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women Club, the Dolgeville- Manheim Historical Society, and a member of the Auskerada – Maquaes- Rock City Chapter #204 Order of Eastern Star. Ann will be remembered by her family and friends as a dedicated worker for the church at their many church suppers, craft fairs or any activity that needed extra help. The holidays were also special to her when the family gathered to celebrate. She is survived by her sons and their wives- Edwin H. and Nancy Atkins of Johnstown, Michael and Karen Atkins of Newport and Richard and Cori Jerin of Inghams Mills, a daughter Kathleen Sarano of Dolgeville, a Sister Edna Vickers of Salisbury Center, her grandchildren Edwin III, Cassandra Lynn, Ashley, Marcella, Grace Anna, Teresa, Karri, Michael Jr., Kayla, Kristi, Craig, Mary Jane, Jude, Richard Jr. and Casilee, her great grandchildren Kaylee and Joseph. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday September 1st, 2010 at 11 am at the United Methodist Church on Helmer Avenue Dolgeville. Rev. Diane E. DiLuzio, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dolgeville Cemetery. Calling hours are on Tuesday from 5-8 PM at the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville. Memorials in Anna's name may be made to the Dolgeville United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or to the Masonic Care community, Utica. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
