Obituary of Clifford Allen

ILION - Clifford George Allen, age 86, formerly of 76 Highland Ave., Ilion, passed into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, John and Pat Allen, of Ilion. He was born on July 4, 1924, in Freeport, NY, the son of Joseph E. and Grace (Bliss) (Golden) Allen. Cliff was a veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Navy. On July 13, 1947, he was married to Joan Paschette in Roosevelt, L.I., NY. She died on October 10, 2004. Cliff was employed as a finisher at Remington Arms Co., Ilion, for fifteen years, retiring in 1991. He had been a firefighter in Long Island before moving to Ilion. Cliff was always there to help anyone who needed him. Mr. Allen was a member of the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion. What a great blessing it was to have Rob Tubia there to help take care of dad. Survivors include five sons and two daughters-in-law, John and Pat Allen, with whom he resided in Ilion, Clifford and Cindy Allen, of the State of Washington, and Michael, Peter, and Scott Allen, all of Ilion; one other daughter-in-law, Sandy Allen, of Mohawk; grandchildren, Mellisa, Jennifer, Shannon and Casey Allen, Craig and Amanda Allen, Regina and Rick Gonzalez, Paula Moore, Chick Scaparo and Christina Joy, Jennifer and Shaun Cacciatore, Bradley and Crystal Allen, Billie Jo and Dan Snyder, and Sara and Kayla; great-grandchildren, Dante Allen, Noah and Haley Allen, Nathan Snyder, Shannon and Jordan Gonzalez, Samantha, Tommy and Alexandra Moore, and Francesca, Sonny and Bianca Cacciatore; also his canine friend, Max. He was predeceased by his wife and his parents. Funeral services will be held 9:15 a.m., Monday, August 9, 2010, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, and 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, North Ilion, next to his wife, Joan. Calling hours are Sunday, August 8, 2010, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Annunciation or American Cancer Society. The Allen family has entrusted all funeral and burial arrangements to their long time friend, Don Applegate, Funeral Director.
