Obituary of Janet Belmont

FRANKFORT - Janet M. Belmont, age 68, of 219 Sixth Ave., Frankfort, wife of Joseph P. Belmont, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2011, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford, with her family by her side. She was born on Oct. 23, 1942, in Ilion, the daughter of Frank and Florence (Tripple) Loiacono. Janet graduated from Frankfort High School and Hartwick College with a bachelor's and became a registered nurse. On Oct. 31, 1964, she was married to Joseph P. Belmont at St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. At one time, Janet was employed at Mohawk Valley General Hospital, Ilion, in the surgical and maternity departments. She later worked at Herkimer County Public Health as a visiting nurse and later as supervising public health nurse for over twenty-five years, retiring in 1998. Janet was a faithful communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort, a member of American Legion Auxiliary Mohawk Post No. 25 for 40 years and believe it or not, an avid Buffalo Bills fan. Janet was extremely proud of her life's work as a nurse. She cared for countless patients as though they were family. Her caring and compassion were unparalleled. Janet was happiest when she was surrounded by her family. They filled her life and her heart with love. She was a devoted wife of 46 years and adored her daughters and grandchildren who affectionately called her "Mima." In her spare time, Janet enjoyed cake decorating, gardening and admiring the birds and squirrels that often came scratching at the door for a peanut. She and her husband, Joe, enjoyed many years together spending summer weekends on their boat and enjoying the evening fires visiting with friends under the pavilion at the Sylvan Beach marina. They also enjoyed their winter escapes to Myrtle Beach where you could often find her walking the beach looking for that perfect seashell. Although she is gone from our sight, she will remain in our minds and hearts. Janet will forever be treasured as a wife, mother, grandmother, relative and friend. Her memory lives on in all those who knew her. Survivors include her husband, Joe; her daughters, Christina Moretti and her husband, Al, of Ohio, Debra Wainwright and her husband, Sean, of Frankfort, and Janel Apel and her husband, Jeff, of Frankfort; her grandchildren, Rachael and Nathan Moretti, Marissa and Alexis Wainwright, Kayla and Joshua Grems, and Brittany, Kayla and Jennifer Apel; her nephew, Paul J. Belmont and his wife, Dina, of Frankfort; and several aunts, uncles and cousins, including a special cousin, Rosemarie Hardin. She was predeceased by her parents and several aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, June 13, 2011, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, and at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen Of Apostles Church, Frankfort, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Alfred Lamanna, Pastor Emeritus, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort.
