Obituary of Francis Barry

HERKIMER-Francis J. "Chip" Barry, 63 of McKennan Road, town of Herkimer passed away on Saturday evening, April 9, 2011 in Little Falls Hospital from an apparent heart attack. He was born on July 28, 1947 in Ilion, son of the late Francis J. and Doris A. (Kanaley) Barry and graduated from Herkimer High School, "Class of 1966" and attended Kerpel Tech of New York City receiving a dental technician degree. He lived his entire life in Herkimer. On July 29, 1972, Chip was united in marriage with Sandra Karla at St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer; a 38-year union filled with mutual respect and devotion. He was last employed with Remington Arms, Ilion, retiring in 2001 and was of the Catholic Faith. Chip was a devoted husband, father and proud grandfather. He made friends easily and kept them forever. His favorite moments were spent in the beautiful Adirondacks with his good buddies at their camp. He loved hunting and fishing and served as a Boy Scout Leader at one time. Survivors include his beloved family; his wife: Sandi; a son: Michael J. Barry and Renee Rouillier of Mohawk ; his cherished grandson: Evan Michael Barry; two sisters: Elizabeth Wehrer and husband Glenn of Ohio and Patricia Truax of Schuyler; his mother in law, Dorothy Hodge of Dolgeville; a brother in law: Ronald Karla and wife Darlene of Dolgeville; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Also surviving are numerous dear friends. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer (866-1011) on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. Chip's funeral will commence at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 from the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor of St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer officiating. Procession will follow to Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer where he will be laid to rest. Kindly consider memorial contributions in his memory to the American Cancer Society "Relay For Life" which Chip so loved to take part in. Arrangements are being handled by funeral director, Daniel J. Enea.
