Obituary of Carl P Casullo

LITTLE FALLS: Mr. Carl P. Casullo, age 89, formerly of 510 Garden St., Little Falls, and most recently a resident of Valley Health Services, Herkimer, NY, passed away at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown NY, on July 19, 2011, with his loving children at his side. Carl was born October 11, 1921, in Little Falls, son of the late John and Caroline (Visconte) Casullo. He received his education from Little Falls High School. On September 12, 1948, he married Jeanette A. Giammaria in St. Joseph's Church, Little Falls. At the time of his passing they were married 62 years in a loving, sharing, committed relationship. Carl was an extremely proud World War II, US Army Veteran, serving in the European Theater. He was employed for many years with Sperry Rand Univac in Utica where Carl traveled extensively for the company as an engineer specialist with the introduction of computers in businesses. Carl was a faithful communicant of Holy Family Parish, Little Falls. Carl belonged to and served as a past commander of the DeCarlo-Staffo Post No.8, also the Little Falls Elks Lodge No.42, and the Little Falls American Legion Post #31. Carl was an avid golfer and spent many hours in retirement at the Little Falls Municipal Golf Course. He also bowled in the Thursday Night Men's Bowling League for 60 years. Other than his family, his passion was following the New York Yankees. Carl considered his family to be the most important part of his life. He was a wonderful provider to his wife and family. He bestowed upon them continually, his love, support, and steadfast loyalty in all their endeavors. He paid special attention these past few years to serving his wife's need throughout her illness. He kept his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren close to his heart. Carl also had many friends in Little Falls, the Mohawk Valley, as well as Utica and Syracuse areas. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette a resident of the Valley Health Services; his three children, Bob Casullo and wife Pat of Syracuse, Carla Lemik and husband Joe of Rochester, and David Casullo and wife Lori of Little Falls; seven grandchildren, Rocco Casullo and wife Vanessa of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Jamie Casullo and fiancée Heather Torsleff of Albany, NY, Renee Milliken and husband Scott of Rochester, NY, Chris Lemik of Los Angeles, California, and Andrew, Jenna and Sara Casullo all of Little Falls, NY. In addition, he leaves his cherished four great grandchildren, Brooke, Addison, Kali Milliken of Rochester, NY, and Lexi Casullo of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; also, a sister, Rosina Scarano of Little Falls; sister in law, Jean Casullo of New Jersey, and brother in law Robert Giammaria and wife Clarinda in Herkimer. In addition, he leaves many nieces and nephews that he adored and kept in touch with often. Carl was predeceased by three brothers, John, Phillip and Lawrence Casullo, and two sisters, Rochina Smizzi and Anne Garro. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, on Friday evening July 22, from 4:00-8:00 pm. The funeral will commence Saturday July 23 at 10:15 from Enea Family Funeral Home, with a celebration of his life mass from Holy Family Parish in Little Falls at 11 am with the Rev. Thomas Lawless, pastor, officiating. Procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer where he will be laid to rest. Military Honors will be accorded by the US Army. The family would like to thank the Little Falls Hospital and Bassett Hospital staffs for their kind, courteous and professional assistance throughout Mr. Casullo's years. In addition, a very special appreciation to all the administrators, staff, employees and residents of the Valley Health Services in Herkimer, NY, and Sister Marilyn Hayes and Father Tom Lawless of Holy Family Parish for their spiritual support throughout our father's illness.
