ILION-FORESTPORT - Carolyn (Reid Geiss) Dove, age 54, of Snowbird Lake, Little Beaver Lake Rd., Forestport, NY, formerly of Ilion (long time resident), passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2011, at home, after a brief illness, with her daughters by her side. Carolyn was born on October 15, 1956, in Stratford, CT, the daughter of David E. and Marjorie (Reid) Geiss. She was a graduate of Ilion High School "Class of 1974" and went on to graduate from HCCC and SUNY Utica/Rome. For many years, Carolyn was employed as a Case Manager at various Healthcare facilities, including Valley Health Services, Herkimer, and the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion. Most recently, she was employed at the Masonic Care Community, Utica, since 2004. She attended the Universalist Church in New Hartford. At one time she was a member of the US Daughters of the American Revolution and Order of the Eastern Star. Carolyn loved the outdoors and being close to nature. She also enjoyed music and adored her felines and other animal friends. Survivors include her daughters, Miranda Dove, and her fiancé, Stephen Wade, of Utica, and Melinda (Dove) Culver, and her husband, Dave, of Ilion; her grandson, Colin David Culver; her cousins, Jane Shallcross and Samuel Shallcross and his wife, Karen, all of Harrisburg, PA; her cousin Sandra's husband, Brian Fabian, and their children, Will and Lilly Fabian, of Monson, MA; and many close friends who have walked the journey with her. She was predeceased by her father in 1981, her mother in 2004 and her cousin, Sandra Fabian, in 2010. Friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend Carolyn's Memorial graveside service on Friday, June 24, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. at Armory Hill Cemetery, Benedict Ave., Ilion. There are no calling hours scheduled in keeping with Carolyn's wishes.
