Obituary of Edward Dygert

ILION-JORDANVILLE- Edward L. Dygert, age 80, of Kingdom Rd., Jordanville, died on Friday, June 10, 2011, at his son and daughter-in-law David and Betty Dygert's home in Ilion, with his family by his side. He was born on September 20, 1930, in Ilion, the son of Lester and Violet (Bailey) Dygert, and attended Mohawk and Ilion schools. Edward was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the US Army. He was married to Edna Ward in Ilion. He was a truck driver for Herkimer Co. for twenty years. He loved outdoor activities, including gardening, chopping wood and raising animals. Survivors include his wife, Edna; seven children, Alfred and his wife, Myra, David and his wife, Betty, Linda, Michael, Lance, Clarence, and Chris and his wife, Frances; twenty grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; five brothers; one sister; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Doug, in 2000, and his brother, Robert. A private family graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Dygert family has entrusted all arrangements to their family funeral director, Don Applegate, of Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Homes.
